Biography
The Keyboard player with GENESIS from 1967 to present day, Tony Banks cut his first solo record in 1979. Titled 'A Curious Feeling' the record reached number 21 in the British album charts, although Tony would not find the time to record a follow up effort until 1983 when 'The Fugitive' emerged. 1983 also found Banks working on the soundtrack to the movie 'The Wicked Lady' and the single listed below of the same name is from the film soundtrack.
1985's 'Red Wing' 45, although an instrumental, featured guest vocals from former Punk songstress TOYAH and ex BANDIT vocalist Jim Diamond on the B side tracks. The following year's single 'Short Cut To Somewhere', boasted then MARILLION frontman FISH on lead vocals; which was a somewhat strange liaison bearing in mind the media's vilification of MARILLION at the time for being mere pretenders to the GENESIS throne.
During 1989 Banks founded a band unit BANK STATEMENT and this outfit released a self titled album before the man returned to true solo work with 1991's 'Still' album. Fish guested once more on these sessions, as did ex-DURAN DURAN guitarist ANDY TAYLOR.
