Biography
Early seventies Rockers TOE FAT, besides a penchant for some intriguing toe themed album covers, became known as an early port of call for URIAH HEEP mainstays KEN HENSLEY and drummer Lee Kerslake. TOE FAT vocalist Cliff Bennett was a former member of REBEL ROUSERS, a Pop act that scored a couple of hit singles in the mid 60's. Bennett moved into Hard Rock territory after the break up of his CLIFF BENNETT BAND, recruiting ex-GODS musicians KEN HENSLEY, Lee Kerslake and bassist John Glascock in 1969. With the release of the debut album Kerslake left to join URIAH HEEP and was replaced by Brian Glascock. Hensley also departed for URIAH HEEP and was superseded by guitarist Alan Kendall.
After the demise of TOE FAT John Glascock joined CHICKENSHACK prior to enlisting with JETHRO TULL in 1975, whilst Bennett went on to appear in REBELLION and SHANGHAI, the latter releasing a 1976 album 'Fallen Heroes'. Following an unbroken and lengthy term of office with URIAH HEEP Lee Kerslake joined up with OZZY OSBOURNE to record the groundbreaking albums 'Blizzard Of Ozz' in 1980 and 'the following years 'Diary Of A Madman' before returning to URIAH HEEP once again.
