SWERVEDRIVER

Members

Biography

SWERVEDRIVER were initially known as SHAKE APPEAL before signing to Creation Records and adding ex WAY OUT WEST and U.T. drummer Graham Bonnar. Frontman Adam Franklin was previously with Oxford act SATAN KNEW MY FATHER.

Despite breaking into the lower reachs of the British charts and scoring an American deal with major label A&M Records SWERVEDRIVER found progress slow being pitched to both the Indie and Metal communities. In Britain the band opened for THE WONDERSTUFF and in America as guests to SOUNDGARDEN in 1992. Bonnar quit following these shows as did bassist Adrian Vines. Bonnar would join the BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE whilst Vines teamed up with SKYSCRAPER.

New recruits in SWERVEDRIVER for a 1993 American support tour to SMASHING PUMPKINS were bassist Steven George and drummer Jez.

The band could only manage one single with A&M Records in Britain before record company politics forced them out into the cold.

The 'Last Train To Satansville' single features a B side cover version of VELVET UNDERGROUND's 'Jesus'.
