Sunderland Heavy Metal band EARTHROD was convened during 2000 initially as a studio project by erstwhile BLITZKRIEG members vocalist / guitarist Glenn Howes and drummer Mark Hancock alongside former DRILL BIT, RAMPAGE and DEAD END guitarist Sean Jeffries. Howes had earlier formed part of HURRICANE, Doomsters THE REIGN and the 1998 'reunion' TYGERS OF PAN TANG line up for the 'Wacken Open Air' festival in Germany whilst Hancock cited credits with BIRD OF PREY.

Latter day drummer Simon Papaleo was previously with Grunge act ANAHEIM and Punk band FLAW. Jeffries joined resurrected NWOBHM band AVENGER UK in February 2007.
