STAMPIN' GROUND

Biography

A mixture of Metal and Hardcore, all members of STAMPIN' GROUND were in other groups before collaborating on this project in 1995. With a healthy appetite for touring, STAMPIN' GROUND found the time in a hectic gigging schedule to record two 7" singles, later combined to form the 'Stampin' Ground' EP. The Heath Powell fronted debut album 'Demons Run Amok', produced by Martin Nicholls, emerged through the German We Bite label in April 1997. The band then signed to the Kingfisher specialist Hardcore arm of another German concern, Century Media Records, for October 1998's 'Expression Of Repressed Violence'. This Dave Chang produced outing would be cut by a STAMPIN' GROUND line-up comprising vocalist Adam Frakes-Sime, guitarists Scott Atkins and Mobs, bass player Ian Glasper and drummer Adrian Stokes. Japanese variants added the exclusive track 'Jerusalem'.

The band toured the UK during September 1999 as part of a package billing with KNUCKLEDUST, FREEBASE and UNITE prior to jumping onto a further run of dates in union with TRIBUTE TO NOTHING and LOCKDOWN running into November. STAMPIN' GROUND allied themselves with KNUCKLEDUST for the November split EP 'The Darkside Versus The Eastside' for Blackfish Records. Contributing two songs each both bands joined forces for the close out track 'United Blood'. The same team of band members and Dave Chang would craft June 2000's 'Carved From Empty Words' album set.

Drummer Adrian Stokes would break ranks in July 2002 to be replaced by former BENEDICTION man Neil Hutton. The new man made his first impressions with the 2003 Andy Sneap produced 'A New Darkness Upon Us'. In September of that year longstanding bassist Ian Glasper opted out due to family commitments. Ben Frost of UNITE took his position for a run of UK headline dates in December. STAMPIN' GROUND shared a split album of cover versions, entitled 'Allied Forces', in November with Arizona's NORTH SIDE KINGS. The live schedule continued into 2004 with February shows aligning the band with CHIMAIRA and EVERYTIME I DIE before a further lengthy run of European dates performing as opening act to ZYKLON and ARCH ENEMY. In October the band saw their track 'Don't Need A Reason To Hate' used in the Eidos video game 'Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes The Neighborhood.' A 2005 compilation inclusion of note would be the track 'Pain Is Weakness (Leaving The Body)' featured on the 'Code Red' album, an exclusive collection given to US Marine Corps soldiers active duty in the Middle East.

STAMPIN' GROUND embarked on a headlining tour of the UK in September with support from BIOMECHANICAL.

In 2005 ex-bassist Ian Glasper, working with drummer Adrian Stokes, forged SUICIDE WATCH. The band issued their debut album 'Global Warning' through Belgium's Mausoleum label in 2005.
