Biography
Actually Hammond organ supremo JON LORD's pre DEEP PURPLE act THE ARTWOODS under a pseudonym. The band decided to toughen up their image with this single dressing for the cover photo as gangsters.
Following this last stab bassist Malcolm Poole went onto Jazz-Rock exponents COLOSSEUM, Lord moved up a gear to DEEP PURPLE whilst guitarist Derek Griffiths went onto DOG SOLDIER. As for Art Wood himself he founded QUIET MELON before retiring from the business.
Griffiths teamed up and erstwhile ARGENT and KINKS bass player Jim Rodford in 1989 to forge the GB BLUES CO. fronted by HUMBLE PIE, JEFF BECK, WIDOWMAKER and STREETWALKERS man Bob Tench. The pairing of Griffiths and Rodford, together with former STRAWBS keyboard player Chris Patten and ex RIO and TINA EGAN BAND drummer Steve Rodford created WICKED in 1998.
