MURDER ONE

Biography

A much vaunted project led by erstwhile IRON MONKEY frontman Johnny Morrow in league with MEDULLA NOCTE personnel vocalist Paul Catten, drummer Jammer and guitarist Mark, LABRAT bassist Adam with CHARGER guitarist Jim Palmer. The band's momentum was stalled when Morrow died on June 22nd from heart failure the day after MURDER ONE's debut London gig. The singer had been on dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant. MURDER ONE soon announced plans to carry on despite Morrow's death.

A huge whell of support was in evidence by the cream of underground Metal bands from both the UK and North America at the tribute 'Morrowfest' held at Nottingham Rock City on August 18th. UK shows in November and December 2003 saw the band partnered with CHARGER and MY RUIN. In October 2004 Catten joined Doom merchants KHANG, this addition prompting a name switch to LAZARUS BLACKSTAR.

Promoting the Dan Turner produced debut album, 'Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid', MURDER ONE supported PITCHSHIFTER's March 2006 UK dates. That same month the group signed to with Grind That Axe Records, a UK label founded by former Kerrang! magazine journalists Dante Bonutto and Derek Oliver. 'Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid' saw a Japanese release in July through the JVC Victor label. This version of included two bonus tracks from the band's previous EP, 'Filthy Excuse Of A Man' and 'Answer To Everyone'.

In January 2007 MURDER ONE called it quits, announcing ""Today and for the long, forseeable future, MURDER ONE have called it a day. No argument, no bullshit 'musical differences'....we just cannot continue. We're bold enough to say... 'No-one gives a fuck about the band any more!"
