Biography

An outfit of illustrious pedigree fronted by ex-FANDANGO, RAINBOW, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and DEEP PURPLE singer JOE LYNN TURNER. MOTHER'S ARMY made a significant impact in Japan. Joining Turner were characters of no less distinction with erstwhile VANILLA FUDGE, CACTUS, OZZY OSBOURNE and KING KOBRA drummer CARMINE APPICE, NIGHT RANGER guitarist JEFF WATSON and Englishman Bob Daisley, a veteran of OZZY OSBOURNE, RAINBOW, URIAH HEEP, BLACK SABBATH and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN.

Both Daisley and Appice had figured on Watson's 1991 solo album 'Lone Ranger'. Daisley was also to be found having contributed to the STREAM album 'Nothing Is Sacred', released around the same period. STREAM was a project put together by German guitarist Peter Scheithauer. MOTHER'S ARMY debute in 1993 with an eponymous outing. The group signed to German label USG Records for the 1998 follow up, 'Planet Earth', recording this self-produced set at The Camp Studios in Mill Valley, California.

The 'Fire On The Moon' album found Appice supplanted by ex-JOURNEY, JEFFERSON STARSHIP, JETHRO TULL and MOGG/WAY drummer Aynsley Dunbar. Daisley deputised for DIO on their late 1998 Scandinavian dates as rumours flew regarding a possible RAINBOW reunion featuring Ronnie James Dio, RITCHIE BLACKMORE and Daisley. This project never got off the ground.

By 2000 Dunbar was a member of UFO, appearing on their 'The Covenant' album. Daisley subsequently founded a Blues project band THE HOOCHIE COOCHIE MEN, this leading onto the high profile LIVING LOUD in union with singer JIMMY BARNES, drummer Lee Kerslake of URIAH HEEP and DEEP PURPLE members guitarist STEVE MORSE and keyboard player DON AIREY. In early 2005 there was conjecture that another MOTHER'S ARMY project would be underway.

JOE LYNN TURNER announced a fresh band project in August 2006. BIG NOISE comprised a cast of elite players involving former QUIET RIOT guitarist Carlos Cavazo, OZZY OSBOURNE and BILLY IDOL bassist PHIL SOUSSAN, the CINDERELLA credited keyboard player Gary Corbett and drummer Vinny Appice, a veteran of DIO, WWIII and BLACK SABBATH. This project's first endeavour would be the making of a DVD for the corporate concert industry.
