Biography

Renowned Blues Rock guitarist most famous for his exploits with WHITESNAKE, JUICY LUCY and SNAFU. Moody made his mark with SNAFU and playing on every WHITESNAKE album until '1987'. The guitarist also had his own act, THE YOUNG & MOODY BAND in partnership with STATUS QUO tour manager / associate songwriter Bob Young, with whom he recorded a handful of singles and an album ('Young & Moody") between 1977 and 1981. Legendary drummer COZY POWELL was also involved with the band.

Moody started out in THE ROADRUNNERS, a North Eastern act fronted by PAUL RODGERS, later of FREE and BAD COMPANY, and bassist Bruce Thomas, later of ELVIS COSTELLO & THE ATTRACTIONS. When THE ROADRUNNERS relocated to London and Rodgers was poached to form FREE, Moody formed TRAMLINE before a stint with the big band LUCAS & THE MIKE COTTON SOUND. A spell with ZOOT MONEY led to JUICY LUCY then SNAFU; both the latter acts releasing acclaimed albums.

The 2000 solo album 'I Eat Them For Breakfast' has vocals from Moody's COMPANY OF SNAKES and ex-BAD COMPANY frontman ROBERT HART together with Paul Williams. Moody assembled the MICKY MOODY BAND for UK touring in early 2003 working with vocalist Paul Williams, bass player Pete Reece, keyboard player Roy Shipston and drummer Henry Spinetti. That same year Moody embarked upon the M3 project, a high profile union centred on the former WHITESNAKE trio of guitarists Moody and BERNIE MARSDEN with bass player Neil Murray.

Fronting up the whole band, which was assembled primarily to perform classic WHITESNAKE material on the live circuit in Europe, would be the esteemed figure of former BLACK SABBATH vocalist TONY MARTIN. M3 was rounded off by Josh Phillips, previously with BIG COUNTRY, and Jimmy Copley of the PAUL RODGERS band and COMPANY OF SNAKES. A later addition the the band, on keyboards, would be former GRAND SLAM and MAGNUM man Mark Stanway. M3 debuted with gigs in Russia and Europe.

Moody featured as a studio guest on Italian singer CHRIS CATENA's November 2003 album 'Freak Out!'. MICKY MOODY joined up with ROGER CHAPMAN's band THE SHORTLISTS for German tour dates commencing in April of 2004. Both M3 guitarists, Marsden and Moody, would play a special set of acoustic/electric Bues as special guests of TOTO at the Royal Albert Hall in London in June. Taking a break from M3, MICKY MOODY engaged in solo touring during May of 2005, his band including son Micky Moody Jr. on drums, bassist Pete Stroud and vocalist / harmonica player Peter Hope-Evans.
