Biography

Renowned Blues Rock guitarist Mick Abrahams impacted on the scene initially with JETHRO TULL then BLODWYN PIG. In between bouts of the latter the guitarist has issued a string of solo albums. Abrahams quit JETHRO TULL following their debut album after disagreements between singer Ian Anderson and the guitarist on the musical direction of the band.

In between JETHRO TULL and the release of the debut BLODWYN PIG album Abrahams sessioned on SPOOKY TOOTH vocalist GARY WRIGHT's 1970 WONDERWHEEL album 'Extraction'.

first BLODWYN PIG effort itself proved Abrahams had many fans in Britain, charting inside the national top ten.

Following the second BLODWYN PIG album, another top ten album, Abrahams created the short lived WOMMET before founding THE MICK ABRAHAMS BAND with a complete fresh set of members ex RUST / FREEDOM bassist Walt Monaghan, keyboard player Bob Sergeant and drummer Ritchie Dharma. The following year they added multi instrumentalist and ex BLODWYN PIG man Jack Lancaster.

BLODWYN PIG was resurrected in 1974 prior to another bout of THE MICK ABRAHAMS BAND.

Monoghan was to join Progressive Rockers IF before appearing on legendary American wildman guitarist TED NUGENT's 1979 album 'State Of Shock'.

Abrahams pulled some of his old cohorts back together in 1991 for the 'All Said And Done' album. Appearing were his ex JETHRO TULL colleague Clive Bunker together with Andy Pyle and Nigel Pegrum.

The 1996 acoustic record 'One' sees a collaboration with JETHRO TULL's frontman IAN ANDERSON, their first musical union since 1968. The 'Mick's Back' album of the same year sees Abrahams joined by drummer Tim Franks, keyboard player Dave Baldwin, bassist John Price and guitarist Norman Beaker.

Following a live performance by Abrahams at a German JETHRO TULL convention the idea was suggested for the guitarist to create a new act to record some of the material played live for that event. Abrahams assembled the THIS WAS BAND of bassist Mike Summerland, drummer Paul Burgess and vocalist / flute player Steve Dundon to record 'This Is!', an album that included reworks of material from JETHRO TULL's debut.
