Biography

London NWoBHM outfit DEEP MACHINE went through many incarnations although were, nevertheless, an inspiration for many other bands to have sprung up in the post NWoBHM era. Amongst the number of musicians involved with the band in their time. Perhaps the most notable names were guitarist John Wiggins, who left to join ex-IRON MAIDEN vocalist PAUL DIANNO's band LONEWOLF and eventually found himself in TOKYO BLADE, and bassist Andy Wrighton. The latter subsequently went through the likes of Dianno's SHANGHAI TYGER, TOKYO BLADE and SHOGUN.

The 1982 line-up of DEEP MACHINE briefly included ANGEL WITCH mentor Kevin Heybourne, although in reforming ANGEL WITCH Heybourne poached vocalist Roger Marsden and drummer Rick Bruce.

The same year Marsden was to be found fronting NEVADDA FOXX, a band set up by former E.F. BAND, ANGEL WITCH and TYTAN drummer Dave Dufort. Dufort re-christened himself Richie D'For in NEVADDA FOXX (originally titled KAMIKAZE) and also enrolled guitarist Chris Mallia and bassist Richard Vernon. Both Dufort and Vernon would form TROY in 1983. Marsden, incidentally, would also front the E.F. BAND during 1984.

A 1982 DEEP MACHINE line up featured Tony Smith on vocals, guitarists Tony Harris and Paul Smith and drummer Steve Kingsley alongside Wrighton. Kingsley later joined ROGUE MALE. After the demise of DEEP MACHINE Tony Smith and Tony Harris both went on to form STRUTT. Post BATTLEZONE Wiggins rejoined TOKYO BLADE in 1995 then did a complete U turn finding himself back in the ranks of BATTLEZONE in 1998.
