Melodic Hard Rock act LIAR issued the debut 'Straight From The Hip' on the Decca label during 1977. Founded with a line-up of vocalist Dave Burton, guitarist Paul Travis, former EDISON LIGHTHOUSE bassist Dave Taylor and ex EGG and GROUNDHOGS drummer Clive Brooks the band would be rounded out by erstwhile FAST BUCK and BANDANA guitarist Steve Mann who joined after recording of the debut.

LIAR would support SLADE promoting 'Straight From The Hip' before recording sophomore effort 'Set The World On Fire' with producer John Alcock for the American Bearsville label.

A third album was recorded but remains consigned to the vaults. The band put in UK support dates to UFO in early 1979 before folding. Mann subsequently enjoyed a colourful and varied career post LIAR. Figuring in STRATUS, TYTAN, SCORCHED EARTH and LIONHEART before joining the McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP, Glam veterans the SWEET for a lengthy term and German Progressive Rock outfit ELOY.
