Biography

KELLY OSBOURNE, as youngest daughter of fabled Rocker OZZY OSBOURNE, leapt to an unlikely success as a celebrity through the medium of the hit MTV series 'The Osbournes'. When the reality TV docu-soap broke the unprecedented 6 million viewers marker Kelly opted to try her hand at a musical career, soon firing off an acceptably raucous and topical cover of MADONNA's 'Papa Don't Preach'. She would put in her inaugural TV singing performance of the song in front of an audience of millions at the 2002 MTV awards. The track gave Kelly both a UK and US hit, prompting a full blown album deal from Epic. Kelly also duetted with ANDREW W.K. for the song 'She Is Beautiful' on the 'Ozzfest 2002 Live' album.

Second single 'Shut Up' also reaped valuable radio play. Musicians employed for the albums sessions included guitarists Chris Goercke, Thomas R. Yezzi, bass player Marc Russell and drummer Mike "Beans" Benigno.

Although Kelly lost her deal with Epic in 2003 by June it emerged she was working in the studio with none other than her father Ozzy and his longstanding guitarist ZAKK WYLDE. Despite her high profile and chart success Kelly did not have everything her own way as that same month the singer was bottled off stage at the London Snickers sponsored 'Game On' event. A hostile crowd forced Kelly to cut her set down to just ten minutes. On a more positive note it was revealed that Kelly had re-recorded the BLACK SABBATH ballad 'Changes', which appeared on the group's 1972 album, 'Black Sabbath, Vol. 4', as a duet with father OZZY OSBOURNE.

It would be learned in September that Kelly had now signed to Sanctuary Records, aiming to re-issue her debut album under the revised title of 'Changes'. This re-worked version of the record would include the take of BLACK SABBATH's 'Changes', being issued as a single, plus live tracks Issued in early December, 'Changes', debuted in the UK no. 1 spot. Fortunately a 'Top Of The Pops' studio appearance had only just been filmed before Ozzy sustained multiple injuries in a quad bike accident.

In April of 2004 Kelly's parents Ozzy and Sharon revealed during a live appearance on CNN's 'Larry King Live' programme that their daughter had entered the Promises drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Malibu, California to treat an addiction to painkillers. According to Sharon, Kelly checked into Promises after being confronted with a photo from a UK tabloid newspaper, the 'News of the World', which apparently showed her in the middle of drug deal. Although she initially denied that she was doing drugs, Kelly eventually admitted that she had a problem and produced a bag containing an "astounding" amount of pills, according to Ozzy. In more positive news it also emerged that Kelly was shooting a pilot show for an ABC series 'Doing It' set in Vancouver. She would land the role of character Deborah as the series was commissioned under a revised title of 'Life As We Know It'. On 26th June Kelly, and father Ozzy, performed at a free ROD STEWART headlined concert in London to mark the arrival of the Olympic flame in Britain.

KELLY OSBOURNE's second album, released in 2005 and preceded by the single 'One Word', would see production credits going to Linda Perry of 4 NON BLONDES repute. 'One Word', featuring a cover of the HUMAN LEAGUE's 'Sound Of The Crowd', broke the UK charts at no.9. The singer also launched her own obscenity fuelled clothing line Stiletto Killers.
