Biography

Despite being bestowed with a Rock pedigree of undoubted authenticity, vocalist / guitarist Greg Lake is unfortunately best remembered for his haunting perennial seasonal hit 'I Believe In Father Christmas'. Lake was previously with KING CRIMSON before forming EMERSON, LAKE AND PALMER in 1971. The two Atlantic singles listed below were released while part of EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER. Lake also pursued a career in production and produced the STRAY DOG album in 1973.

At the turn of the 80s Lake recruited former SKID ROW and THIN LIZZY guitar virtuoso GARY MOORE following the demise of Moore's G-FORCE project (scuppered when Jet Records refused to release his album) and added to the band drummer Ted McKenna, who was previously with SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND. This group promptly performed at the 1981 Reading Festival and recorded the 'Greg Lake' album for Chrysalis.

Lake then played a role in the formation of the Geffen signed 'supergroup' ASIA assembled by his erstwhile EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER colleague Carl Palmer. By 1986 Lake had formed EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL with KEITH EMERSON and the veteran RAINBOW and WHITESNAKE drummer COZY POWELL.

Lake rounded off the millenium by working on an album with well known comedian Jim Davidson. By early 2004 rumours, subsequently confirmed, would be in circulation suggesting Lake had joined legendary British act THE WHO for US touring. In 2005 a new solo band would be assembled for UK touring during October. Joining Lake for this enterprise would be guitarist Florian Opahle, bassist Trevor Barry, keyboard player David Arch, drummer Brett Morgan and backing singers Rachael Moran and Rachael Golding.
