Biography

Accomplished keyboard genius Dave Greenslade moulded this self titled band into a vehicle to portray his grandiose musical ideas to great success. The albums are noted for their elaborate Roger Dean sleeve artwork. Greenslade had made his initial impact upon the Rock world with Jazz Rock pioneers COLOSSEUM. Upon his departure he forged GREENSLADE in late 1972 pulling in his erstwhile JOHN MAYALL'S BLUESBREAKERS and COLOSSEUM colleague bassist Tony Reeves, Former EPISODE SIX vocalist Dave Lawson and ex KING CRIMSON and FIELDS drummer Andrew McCullough.

The third album 'Spyglass Guest', now with GREENSLADE being augmented by another former COLOSSEUM man guitarist Clem Clempson, proved their most successful.

Reeves quit to join CURVED AIR in 1975 and had his position filled by ex MANDRAKE PADDLE STEAMER man Martin Briley.

Following a low key solo album 'Cactus Choir' for Warner Bros. Dave Greenslade reformed the band uniting himself with Reeves once more, vocalist / guitarist Mick Rodgers and yet another COLOSSEUM veteran drummer Jon Hiseman. The resulting album 'The Pentateuch Of The Cosmogeny' proved a lavish affair clad in Patrick Woodroffe artwork and coming complete with a 74 page illustrated book.

Latterly Greenslade has contributed to numerous TV and film scores.

The late 90's saw GREENSLADE revived with Greenslade, Reeves, CURVED AIR guitarist Mike Jacques and John Young of ASIA and QUANGO for an album 'Large Afternoon'.

The band resumed action once again in 2002 citing a line up of Dave Greenslade and Tony Reeves together with former MOODY MARSDEN BAND drummer John Trotter and John Young on lead vocals.
