Biography
Bizarre Progressive Rockers GNIDOLOG took their name from mixing up the surnames of the twin Goldring brothers. Drummer Nigel Pegrum is ex SPICE, the act that would evolve into URIAH HEEP. The band toured Germany before embarking on a heavy touring schedule in Britain which secured a contract with RCA Records.
GNIDOLOG added vocalist John Earle from German act NINE DAY'S WONDER and pianist Charlotte French for the second album 'Lady Lake'. Shortly after recording though a case of mutiny occurred when the Goldring brothers discovered bassist Peter 'Mars' Cowling, Earle, guitarist John Knightsbridge and the drummer from WARM DUST had, with the blessing of GNIDROLOG's manager, set up a rival band.
Following GNIDROLOG's demise Cowling joined THE FLYING HAT BAND, the act that launched the career of future JUDAS PRIEST guitarist GLENN TIPTON. Cowling later came to prominence with the PAT TRAVERS band.
Pegrum teamed up with Folksters STEELEYE SPAN before joining THE BEN MARKUS BAND for their 'Nocturn Gate' album.
28 years after their split the Goldring brothers refounded GNIDROLOG for the 'Gnosis' album.
