Initially known as OPERATOR, GMT, operational during the mid 80s, presumably took their name from the surnames of the three founding members. Bassist Chris Glen was previously an integral part of both the SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND and subsequently MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP. Drummer 'Philthy' Phil Taylor was best known for his role in MOTÖHEAD, whilst ROBIN McAULEY and Mick O' Donaghue had both been members of GRAND PRIX.

GMT would be a short-lived affair, however. Taylor toured with FRANKIE MILLER before rejoining MOTÖRHEAD, whilst McAuley issued a solo single 'Eloise' before he teamed up with Michael Schenker in a re-jigged McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP.
