Biography

Glasgow Melodic Rock outfit LA PAZ was formed in 1984 by ex-NEAT SPEED guitarist Chris 'Chick' McSherry and erstwhile TRYXTER members vocalist Doogie White and bass player Alec Carmichael. They were swift in releasing the debut demo later that year featuring three tracks; 'I Knew Me', 'Don't Say Sorry' and 'Always The Same'. LA PAZ released an eight track, cassette only album entitled 'Old Habits Die Hard' in 1985 followed by a four track demo in 1986, although the band parted company with drummer Stuart Brown (a.k.a. 'Bunty') in late 1987.

Of all the LA PAZ members vocalist Doogie White would enjoy the most success. The singer would led the much vaunted MIDNIGHT BLUE before he worked briefly with guitarist JAN CYRKA, with the short lived SOLE ASYLUM in 1992 for demos and fronted PRAYING MANTIS for a Japanese tour prior to an unsuccessful audition with IRON MAIDEN. Finally White got his break fronting RAINBOW in 1995. In cahoots with Ritchie Blackmore he recorded a solitary album with RAINBOW titled 'Stranger In Us All' before departing to concentrate on his CHAIN project. Subsequently White was been involved with his solo ICE project, which sees a studio reunion with McSherry, as well as guest spot's on NIKOLAI KOTZEV's ambitious 'Nostradamus' concept release, a string of tribute albums and the 2000 CORNERSTONE venture.

Post millennium, White would front YNGWIE MALMSTEEN's band. The singer hooked up with M3, the band of WHITESNAKE exiles guitarists MICKY MOODY and BERNIE MARSDEN, for Summer 2004 gigs. White also donated his vocals to tracks on Japanese guitarist TAKAYOSHI OMURA's debut album 'Nowhere To Go'. The singer rounded out the year by uniting with MOSTLY AUTUMN members Ian Jennings, Liam Davison and guitarist Bryan Josh to form up WHITE NOISE as support act to URIAH HEEP's UK tour.

Doogie White joined the ranks of NWoBHM band TANK in December 2008.
