Biography
GHOST, an Anglo / American act based in Florida, prominently featured burly Welsh guitarist affectionately known as 'Tonka', renowned for his role in succeeding Michael Schenker as lead guitarist for UFO during the 1980's. Chapman began his career in Wales with UNIVERSE cutting an unreleased album before replacing GARY MOORE in SKID ROW. The guitarist then created LONE STAR prior to joining UFO.
Post UFO Chapman created D.O.A. with vocalist Danny Vaughn and keyboard player Jimmy DiLella. This trio would forge a reforged WAYSTED, led by Chapman's erstwhile UFO colleague and bassist PETE WAY. Following the WAYSTED album 'Save Your Prayers' Chapman relocated to Florida founding GHOST in 1993, fronted by another Welshman, Carl Sentance, erstwhile PERSIAN RISK, TREDEGAR, TOKYO BLADE, MONROE and also member of BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler in his GEEZER BUTLER BAND.
Unfortunately GHOST never got to record an album. Sentance joined Swiss Rockers KROKUS and the WHOLE LOTTA METAL tour.
The PAUL CHAPMAN credited 'Anthology Volume One' album, released on his own Paul Chapman Enterprises label, covers Chapman's career from LONESTAR through to GHOST.
Chapman re-appeared in late 2002 guesting with former VIRGIN STEELE guitarist Jack Starr's new band project JACK STARR AND THE GUARDIANS OF THE FLAME for the February 2003 album 'Under A Savage Sky'. By April Chapman, alongside PETE WAY and original vocalist Fin, had reformed WAYSTED. Unfortunately, upon completion of a new album, on 12th November 2004 Chapman resigned from the band.
Sentance returned in 2006 fronting the POWER PROJECT with the 'Dinosaurs' album. This Anglo / American quartet comprised seasoned players of high repute with delegated to QUIET RIOT's Carlos Cavazo, the DOKKEN and DIO credited Jeff Pilson on bass and BLACK SABBATH and DIO man Vinny Appice on drums. The singer would also head up the XXX BAND.
