Biography
THE CULT bassist Billy Morrison, had been working up a musical endeavour entitled DOHENY with PITCHSHIFTER frontman J.S. Clayden, since August of 2002. Canadian drummer Colin LaRocque was added to the ranks in August of 2003 and the following month Californian bassist Tony Freddo completed the roster. The band, taking its title from a rehearsal studio location in Doheny Drive, put in their inaugural live show on 4th November at the Viper Room in Hollywood, California.
Clayden took time out in early 2004 to work with former MACHINE HEAD and SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader to record a cover version of METALLICA's 'St. Anger' for a Cleopatra Records tribute album.
On 29th October the band performed an unannounced gig at the Cadillac sponsored 'Rock & Republic' fashion show in Los Angeles, playing to an invited audience including Victoria Beckham, Eve and Paris Hilton. The band performed a SEX PISTOLS cover aided by BUCKCHERRY's Josh Todd on vocals. DOHENY folded in October 2005.
In January 2006 it would be learned that a potential "Supergroup" union, dubbed CIRCUS DIABLO, was in the works involving Morrison. The unit, conducting rehearsals and songwriting sessions at Drac Studios, owned by drummer MATT SORUM of THE CULT, VELVET REVOLVER and GUNS N' ROSES repute, involved THE ALMIGHTY guitarist RICKY WARWICK and THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy.
