Biography
Starting life as Thrash influenced outfit BLASPHEMER in 1990 over three demo recordings, all executed at Academy Studios, BLASPHEMER evolved into DOMINION during 1995, promoting session singer and erstwhile ballet student Michelle Richfield to the lead vocalist role. However, her angelic strains still compete in the mix with the Death growls of guitarists Mass Firth and Arno Cagna. Prior to the name switch, BLASPHEMER had signed to Peaceville Records, donating the track 'The Joyful Tears Of Sorrow' to the compilation 'Under The Sign Of The Sacred Star'.
The track 'Alive?' on the 1996 DOMINION debut album 'Interface' features MY DYING BRIDE's Ade on vocals. DOMINION offered two bizarre cover versions to the 1998 Peaceville Records compilation album 'X' in TEARS FOR FEARS 'Shout' and the ROLLING STONES ' Paint It Black'. Michelle Richfield's presence would also be felt as backing vocalist on ANATHEMA's 1996 'Eternity' album.
Drummer Bill Law joined MY DYING BRIDE for their '34.788%... Complete' album in 1998. Michelle Richfield would also feature heavily on the same album, scoring lyrics and contributing lead vocals to the infamous 'Heroin Chic' track.
Post DOMINION Richfield and bassist Danny North forged SEAR. Utilising the services of keyboard player Luke Pierce and guitarist Richard Kershaw SEAR cut two 2000 demos upfront of an eponymous album the same year. Richfield would also feature heavily as featured vocalist on the debut ANTIMATTER project album 'Saviour' put together by ex-ANATHEMA bassist Duncan Patterson. Meantime, guitarist Mass Firth joined EBONY LAKE following the album 'On The Eve Of The Grimly Inventive'. However, this band folded shortly after, with Firth joining Wakefield brutal Death Metal band NAILED.
