Biography

BLUE WHALE, a Blues based Rock act, were created from the aftermath of AYNSLEY DUNBAR'S RETALIATION. Dunbar had briefly had a spell with FRANK ZAPPA following the break up of his band but reunited with his erstwhile RETALIATION colleague keyboard player Tommy Eyre to found BLUE WHALE. Guitarist Ivan Zagni is ex-JODY GRIND whilst singer Paul Williams had previously been involved with ZOOT MONEY and JOHN MAYALL'S BLUESBREAKERS.

Upon the demise of BLUE WHALE Eyre and bassist Roger Sutton formed STRABISMUS, an act that evolved into RIFF RAFF.

Vocalist Paul Williams later joined JUICY LUCY, TEMPEST and COLOSSEUM. In 1984 the singer fronted up the Los Angeles based ENGLAND'S GLORY, a short-lived act assembled by BLACK SABBATH drummer BILL WARD. Williams also participated in the 1997 reunion of JUICY LUCY.

Dunbar journeyed through numerous acts such as JOURNEY, JEFFERSON STARSHIP, OZZY OSBOURNE and MOGG-WAY. By 2000 the drummer was a member of UFO appearing on their 'Covenant' album. Eyre saw his fair share of action with ZZEBRA, GILLAN, GARY MOORE and GREG LAKE.
