Biography

Late 60's act centred upon the Brooks brothers of guitarist Derek and bassist Stu that figured large in the heritage of FREE. Both guitarist PAUL KOSSOFF and drummer Simon Kirke had been members pulling in vocalist PAUL RODGERS from BURNT SUGAR. This trio founded FREE.

BLACK CAT BONES drafted vocalist BRIAN SHORT, guitarist Rod Price and drummer Phil Lenoir for the 1969 album 'Barbed Wire Sandwich'. This trio left soon after though with Short later releasing a solo album 'Anything For A Laugh'. Price joined the successful FOGHAT.

Soldiering on BLACK CAT BONES were back up to strength with ex BRUNNING SUNFLOWER BLUES BAND members vocalist PETER FRENCH and guitarist Mick Halls, also a member of SWITCH. French had also enjoyed a brief spell with BIG BERTHA.

The Brooks siblings, French, Halls and drummer Keith Young founded LEAFHOUND. Stuart Brooks hooked up with the PRETTY THINGS.

French was later to join Germans RANDY PIE and embark on a solo career.

In 1997 Stuart Brooks returned on the scene putting together a band titled WISHING WELL with ex-QUIET RIOT, DOKKEN and GREG LEON INVASION guitarist Greg Leon and former SURVIVOR drummer Mark Droubay.
