Biography
Birmingham trio TRUE GRIT, fronted by ex-STRAP ON JACK man Mick Hayes, might best be remembered by regular concert goers in Britain as the support act to the ALMIGHTY on the Ricky Warwick fronted group's 1989 British tour promoting the album 'The Black Country'. Having earned a reputation as an excellent live act, managed by the notorious figure of Dave Corke, TRUE GRIT were a very aggressive, Blues based Hard Rock band that unfortunately were not really captured in the best light on the album. Unfortunately a planned second album 'Get Educated', was never released.
Frontman Mick Hayes later went on to form REVEREND BROWN AND THE EARLYBIRDS in a much Bluesier, less raucous vein. With this act he issued two albums 'Well Bless My Soul' and 'Resolution'. A compilation followed 'Bare In Change' before the 1996 Provogue release 'Psychomachia'.
Bassist Haldin Wright was to front THIN LIZZY tribute band DIZZY LIZZY. Drummer Richard Heath was later to feature with CLARKESVILLE MOUNTAIN BAND and PARTNERS IN CRIME.
