Biography
Upon Tony Mills' departure from AOR merchants SHY the vocalist set about creating a band that could really display his vocal range and talents. SIAM involved also guitarists Chris Ward Evans, previously with BAJJON, and Darren Horton, ex-MARSHALL LAW, bassist Andy Faulkner, an erstwhile member of RECKLESS DAUGHTER, BANG BANG ZOMBIE and SHOCK TACTICS, together with drummer Pano Moullaris.
SIAM was formed very much in the traditional Metal area and proceeded to record a self financed album at Rich Bitch studios in Birmingham. The tapes were heavily influenced by QUEENSRYCHE and too close in fact to the Seattle act to be taken seriously by most record companies. Nevertheless, they did forcibly prove once and for all that Mills has an excellent voice and that Evans was a guitar hero waiting to happen.
The album at first only scored a limited release in Spain before being picked up by Now and Then Records. SIAM supported label mates CROWN OF THORNS on their 1994 summer British tour whilst, during downtime, in 1995 Mills contributed backing vocals to fellow brummies ATLANTIC's debut album.
Prior to the recording of the band's eventual second record SIAM lost Ward Evans and Horton with replacements being Marcus D. Thurston, previously with STRANGEFIRE, and Ian Richardson. 'Prayer' emerged in Japan during 1996. The band would split however, towards the end of the year.
Mills rejoined SHY for their 1999 'Let The Hammer Fall' album. Richardson joined NOISEGATE. Faulkner joined fellow Birmingham Metallers MARSHALL LAW. 2004 found Thurston, having spent time with PAUL DIANNO's KILLERS, joining veteran Brit Glam band TIGERTAILZ. Worth noting is that the 2005 SHY album 'Sunset & Vine' not only saw Tony Mills at the microphone, but that it was produced by SIAM colleague Andy Faulkner and saw fellow erstwhile band mate Ian Richardson guesting on guitar. In early 2005 Faulkner also scored the role of producer for BOLT THROWER. Later that year Marcus Thurston assembled a covers band in union with former INTENSE and LIONSHEART man Eddie Marsh and ex-THE SHOCK drummer Pete Newdeck.
In January 2006 TONY MILLS joined the ranks of veteran Glam Rock band SWEET in the vocal / bass role. However, he relinquished this post after just a handful of gigs. June found the singer issuing an album billed 'Crank It Up' billed as the THE ANDERSSON MILLS PROJECT, a union with Swedish guitarist Linkan Andersson of PARALLEL UNIVERSE, LIVIN' PARAZITE and ZOODRIVE repute. In 2006 Mills also fronted up a Los Angeles Progressive Rock project CHINA BLUE involving ALIBI guitarist Michael Riesenbeck, bassist Rev Jones of BLACK SYMPHONY and the MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, Eric Ragno of VOX TEMPUS and TAKARA on keyboards and drummer Zane Peterson of MALICIOUS and CONDITIONED RESPONSE.
Mills met with high profile Norwegian act TNT in May 2006 to discuss his potential role as replacement singer for the recently departed Tony Harnell. This alliance would be confirmed shortly afterward.
