Biography

Following ex CREAM drummer GINGER BAKER's solo work in Africa with FELA RANSOME-KUTI he returned to a more traditional Rock format for BAKER-GURVITZ ARMY. The union was fronted by the Gurvitz brothers, Adrian and Paul, both of whom were previously with GUN, PARRISH-GURVITZ and THREE MAN ARMY.

Following the debut 1974 chart album BAKER-GURVITZ ARMY added erstwhile SHARKS vocalist Snips and former SEVENTH WAVE keyboard player Peter Lemer. The Gurvitz brothers also busied themselves in 1975 by appearing on the GRAHAM EDGE BAND's 'Kick Off Your Muddy Boots' album. The 1976 album 'Hearts On Fire' was recorded minus Lemur.

The band broke up in 1977 with Baker pursuing his solo career once more. The Gurvitz duo featured on a further GRAHAM EDGE BAND album 'Paradise Ballroom' prior to Adrian embarking on a successful solo career. The late 90's even found Adrian Gurvitz appearing on ex JOURNEY vocalist STEVE PERRY's 'Greatest Hits Plus More' album.
