A was founded in 1994 by the three Perry siblings vocalist Jason, keyboard player Giles and drummer Adam along with bassist Steve Swindon. Since its inception, A has displayed a work ethic that puts a lot of other acts to shame. Not only are they relentless tourers but the band also set up their own custom Tycoon label to release early product.

A was picked up by major label London Records, who took over the continuity of their own Tycoon imprint. Following the debut album, 1997's 'How Ace Are Buildings', the band substituted Swindon for new bass player Dan Carter. Further bouts of live work slowly but surely pushed A into the British singles charts. The 1998 single 'Summer On The Underground' featured A's version of the YES hit 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart' as a B side track. A 1999 Al Clay produced album, 'A Vs. Monkey Kong', was recorded at ICP Studios, Brussels and Eden Studios, London.

A supported THE BLOODHOUND GANG in North America during early 2000. The band, promoting the new album 'Hi Fi Serious' released in April 2002, put in a high profile showing at the FOO FIGHTERS headlined Scottish 'T In The Park' festival. A would then headline dates in the UK during May, supported by THE BEATSTEAKS and FENIX TX. The single 'Something's Going On' included a B side cover version of DAVID LEE ROTH's 'Just Like Paradise'.

A would spend early 2004 working on their fourth album with producer Terry Date at Studio X in Seattle. The band made a long overdue return in April 2005 with the single 'Rush Song' and a lengthy run of UK club dates in May. The album 'Teen Dance Ordinance' preceded UK club shows in October.
