Biography

An orchestrally based Gothic Metal act. SUCCUBUS utilises sweeping keyboard landscapes with both Baroque and lyrical romantacism to set themselves apart from the pack. The band's live show sees the adoption of candles, nebula, fire breathing and pyrotechnics onstage to induce atmosphere. Frontman Phillip Gloor, who paints one half of his head black and the other white, has been known to wear full chainmail and armour onstage. The group, founded by vocalist Gloor, guitar player Roman Kovalik and drummer Lukas Schaerer experienced line up problems to begin with. This necessitated the recruitment of Patrick Hersche, ex member of Death Metal band MESSIAH and then presently with AMON, in order to lay down bass on the debut 'Stripped Angels' EP. Following these sessions Hersche decamped from AMON to join up with SUCCUBUS on a full time basis.

During September 1999, Pia Lustenberger, a classical educated singer and flautist, augmented the SUCCUBUS line-up. became a new member. Her heavenly voice and her good flute-playing brought new influences and an enormous enrichment to SUCCUBUS. A further addition came in April of 2000 with the induction of female lead guitarist Jan Liniger.

Lustenberger performed her last concert with SUCCUBUS in December 2001. Judith Leuenberger, previously with SADUCED, duly took over the role.
