Biography

A melodically inclined Hard Rock band, PAGANINI was re-formed by vocalist Marco Paganini following his departure from the German outfit VIVA in the early 80s for the albums 'What The Hell Is Going On?' and 'Dealer In The Night'. The singer was joined in his endeavour by former VIVA colleague Ralf Murthy. Prior to joining VIVA, Paganini had issued a 7" single in 1979 'Weapon Of Love' / 'Break It Up', this outing including a veritable roll call of Swiss Rock royalty lending their skills in the studio including guitarist VIC VERGAT and the KROKUS cast of Marc Storace, guitarist Mandy Meier, bassist Thommy Kaiser and drummer Freddy Steady. Just prior to enrolling into VIVA Paganini was apparently fronting British NWoBHM band TYGERS OF PAN TANG for German gigs.

PAGANINI bowed back in with the 1985 'Weapon Of Love' album for Phonogram, co-produced by VIC VERGAT. The album track 'Berlin By Night' scored well on German radio and was included on the soundtrack to the movie 'Alpha City'. The follow up album, 'It's A Long Way To The Top', saw the band secure major exposure during 1986 when they supported MÖTLEY CRÜE across Europe and Scandinavia.

The group's first line-up would change for 1990's 'Detox' album, featuring a cover version of PRINCE's 'Time'. Ex-STORMBRINGER and ZERO guitarist ANGI SCHILIRO joined the ranks, teaming up in the brand new PAGANINI with bassist Enzo Butta, keyboard player Mathias Blauenstein and drummer Vitto Cecere. Schiliro would later join KINGDOM COME for a short tenure before recording his own solo album, 'White Lady', in 1993.

During 1996 Paganini sang on demo tracks for former SCORPIONS drummer HERMAN RAREBELL. Quite surreally, a Paganini / Vergat composition scored the duo a major hit in Germany - sung by 'Baywatch' star David Hasselhoff for the 'Pingu' kids television cartoon series!

A new PAGANI album, 'Esoterrorism' produced by ZouZou Mamoux, surfaced in 2003 through Tyrolis Music. Installed on guitar would be the TEA FOR TWO, GREASY KID STUFF, INCANTATIONS and CROSSROAD STANDING man Dale Powers. The 2005 version of the PAGANINI band comprised Paganini, Powers, bassist Joey Fulco and drummer Diego Rappachietti. Fulco would subsequently be replaced by Kiki Crétin. This line-up recorded a new studio album 'Resurrection'.

PAGANINI announced German touring plans across Germany for May 2006 packaged with MAD MAX and JADED HEART.

The group released a fresh album entitled 'Medicine Man' in July 2008. For the band's concert on 9th August at the 'Biker Festival' Alp di Plaun, Grisons in Switzerland PAGANINI was joined on bass by Jochen Mayer, a veteran of CASANOVA, DOMAIN and BOYSVOICE.
