Biography

A leading 'Dark Wave' Rock project. LACRIMOSA employ a jester icon throughout all of their product. The band's career kicked off with a 1990 demo entitled 'Clamor'. Musician emlpoyed by project mentor Tilo Wolff, handling not only lead vocals but also keyboards and drums, for the 1991 'Angst' EP included guitarist Roland Thaler, keyboard player Philippe Alioth and violinist 'Eric The Phantom'. 1992's follow up 'Einsamkeit' had Stelio Diamantopoulos employed on bass guitar with Thaler, Alioth and The Phantom also reprising their roles in the studio. Originally thought out as a solo project by Wolff, in 1994 erstwhile TWO WITCHES vocalist Anne Nurmi was added as permanent band member along with guitarist Yrlund of PRESTIGE and drummer A.C. of Metal veterans RUNNING WILD.

LACRIMOSA was soon recognised to be at the forefront of the Gothic Rock revival in Germany, making it into the national charts with their 1995 album 'Inferno'. For their 1996 EP 'Stolzes Herz' the band comprised Wolff, Nurmi, A.C., guitarists Gottfried Koch and Sascha Gerbig with Jay P. on the bass. The band formed part of the billing for the December 1996 'Dark Winter Nights' touring festival alongside DEPRESSIVE AGE, SENTENCED, THE GATHERING and DREAMS OF SANITY. This band line-up remained intact for the 1997 full length album 'Stille'.

The ambitious 1999 album 'Elodia' would see LACRIMOSA employing the full weight of the London Symphony Orchestra. The band, now counting Wolff and Nurmi on vocals, guitarist / bassist Jay P. and drummers Manne Uhlig and Thomas Nack, cut the 'Echoes' album during September of 2002.

The Russian Irond label released a swathe of LACRIMOSA albums as double packages throughout 2003. The following year Tilo Wolff launched his SNAKESKIN solo project with the album 'Music For The Lost'.
