Biography

GODIVA evolved from the covers band GRANIT, that acts former rhythm section of bassist Mitch Koontz and drummer Peter Gander having incorporated former KIRK guitarist Sammy Lasagni and ex-ABYSMAL vocalist Anthony de Angelis. Koontz would also be operating with South Germany's melodic Power Metal band AVANISH. An opening three track demo in 2001 led to valuable support gigs to PRIMAL FEAR, FREEDOM CALL, SHAKRA and DOKKEN.

GODIVA bassist Mitch Koontz was put into the spotlight as 2003 closed, making up an ad hoc band featuring HAMMERFALL's Oscar Dronjak and Joacim Cans with PRIMAL FEAR man Tom Naumman for a set of HAMMERFALL songs at the epic anniversary bash for the renowned Rockfabrik Rock club in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

GODIVA cut their eponymous debut for Limb Music Products in March of 2003 with producers producers Tom Naumann and Achim Köhler. Naumman added guest guitar whilst Klaus Sperling provided the drums on 'Where Angels Die'. The band drafted ex-VICTORY, WICKED SENSATION and BISS singer Fernando Garcia in January of 2005 for an album with a working title of 'Call Me Under 666'.
