One of the first bands to combine Death Metal with strong melodies, these so called pioneers of the 'Göthenberg style'. EUCHARIST, founded in 1989 and hailing from Veddige near Gothenburg, released their debut 'A Velvet Creation' in 1993 for Wrong Again Records although a 1992 demo, recorded whilst most of the band were still only sixteen years old, and an EP 'Greeting Immortality', on the Obscure Plasma label, had preceded it. Apparently the single was issued without the consent of the band. EUCHARIST also had their track 'The View' included on a compilation album 'Deaf Metal Sampler' issued by UK label Deaf Records, a subsidiary of Peaceville.

The debut album was actually recorded under strenous conditions, the band disliking each other so much they had actually officially split up before commencement of recording. 'A Velvet Creation' was recorded by vocalist / guitarist Markus Johnsson, guitarist Thomas Einarsson, bass player Tobias Gustafsson and drummer Daniel Erlandsson. Tensions were still high though and Johnsson was in particular so disgusted he refused to record any guitars for the album. In the summer of 1994, two further tracks, 'Wounded And Alone' and 'The Predictable End' were recorded for inclusion on a compilation album released by Wrong Again Records, 'W.A.R. Compilation vol 1', released in 1995. These songs saw Matti Almsenius having replaced Einarsson.

EUCHARIST folded once again. Drummer Daniel Erlandsson later joined IN FLAMES, featuring on two tracks on their 'Subterranean' EP, LIERS IN WAIT and DIABOLIQUE. By 1996 Erlandsson and Johnsson were working once again on EUCHARIST.

EUCHARIST reconvened once more in the late 90's cutting two tracks 'The Predictable End' and 'Wounded And Alone' for 1995's Wrong Again Records compilation 'War'. 1996 found the EUCHARIST credited trio of vocalist / bassist Tobias Gustafsson, guitarist Matti Almsenius and drummer Daniel Erlandsson issuing an EP credited to THE END. During 1997 the pairing of Gustafsson and Almsenius were touting a Thrash Metal trio CROAM.

EUCHARIST returned in 1998 with the Fredrik Larnemo produced 'Mirrorworlds' set for Regain Records, this having been recorded at Studio Recordia in Varberg by Markus Johnsson, Daniel Erlandsson and bassist Martin Karlsson. Subsequently, the band drafted second guitarist Henrik Meijner of CROMLECH for live work.

EUCHARIST bass player Martin Karlsson, a prior member of PARAZITE, later joined Varberg's ETERNAL LIES. In 2004 the ETERNAL LIES connection was strengthened further when bassist Tobias Gustafsson enrolled as their new singer.
