Biography

Although originally titled PROMOTION and having issued two well crafted and sought after releases 'Not For Sale' in 1997 and 'Yeah, Yeah' in 1998 this Swedish act was re-dubbed GRAND ILLUSION for the 2001 retrospective release. GRAND ILLUSION would also issue fresh material in the form of the 2001 'The Book And How To Make It' album.

A June 2002 album, 'View From The Top', would include contributions from the HEARTLAND duo of Chris Ousey and guitarist Steve Morris. The group, adding new guitarist Ola af Trampe, announced their first live gig in ten years was to take place at the Bradford, UK 'Gods' festival in 2003. A new album, 'Devil's Advocate', was set to arrive in April of 2004 but this would be delayed until June, undergoing a title change to 'Ordinary Just Won't Do' in the process. Vocalist Peter Sundell would also feature as a guest artist on Norwegian guitarist Tor Talle's NORTHERN LIGHT project.

In early 2005 it would be revealed Anders Rydholm was working on new music in collaboration with Sherwood Ball of PLANET 3 and SHERWOOD BALL N' CHAIN repute. In May Rydholm announced that he was severing ties with GRAND ILLUSION.

Peter Sundell featured as guest lead vocalist on the track 'Beautiful Chardaine' included on the DEACON STREET 'II' album. Sundell also opted out, forging DECOY with Torben Enevoldsen of SECTION A and FATAL FORCE. AOR Heaven issued the DECOY 'Call Of The Wild' album in April 2007.

After four and a half year absence, Grand Illusion reunited at the end of 2008 to record a new album 'Brand New World' for a 2010 release on Metal Heaven in Europe and on Avalon Marquee in Asia.
