Biography

One of Scandinavia's leading Grind Metal acts. BIRDFLESH, founded in Växjö during October of 1992, issued the promotional tapes 'The Butcherbitchtape' in 1994, and 'Demo Of Hell' in 1995. Two songs from this session were also issued on the 'Sometimes Death is Better 2, 3 & 4' Compilation CD Box set released by the Belgian Shiver label.

Further demos 'Fishfucked' arrived in 1997. However, in August of 1997 Alex went on an eight month sabbatical throughout South East Asia during which period BIRDFLESH was put on ice. Meantime both Andreas and Magnus worked with their other acts as well as forging a fresh Japanese inspired Grindcore band together NAPALM GORE.

With Alex back from his travels the newly reconvened BIRDFLESH released their fourth demo, 'We Were 7 Who 8 Our Neighbours On A Plate' in August 1998. Successive releases included the 'Trip To The Grave' 7" single, the 'Morbid Jesus' split EP shared with Poland's SQUASH BOWELS and another split, 'Misery Of The Defenceless' in union with CARCASS GRINDER.

The band would tour Japan in 1999 as running mates with D-RIVER. For the 2002 Razorback album 'Night Of The Ultimate Mosh' BIRDFLESH enlisted the father of drummer Adde Mitrouliu (a.k.a. Smattro Ansjovis) and Apostolos Ansjovis to perform guest clarinet. Also guesting on these sessions would be Jörgen of DETHRONEMENT, Cab of HYPNOSIA and Tobbe Eng and Tobbe Ander from JIGSORE TERROR all on backing vocals.

Adde joined in early 2002 SAYYADINA for a European tour and also found his way into the ranks of GENERAL SURGERY. 2002 also saw BIRDFLESH cramming no less than 19 tracks onto a 7" format album 'Carnage On The Fields Of Rice'. The band cut a whole swathe of new tracks in June of 2003, these being earmarked for use on split singles shared with THE KILL, FRIGHTMARE and EMBALMING THEATER. BIRDFLESH, bringing in Cab Castervall of HYPNOSIA repute as live guitarist, united with NEURAXIS and HELLBLAZER for European shows in September.

Bass player Babro Havohej killed himself in December 2007. His position in the band was took over Panda Flamenco.
