KHOMA

Biography

Umeå politically pro-active Metalcore combo KHOMA, announcing their signature to Roadrunner Records in October 2005, previously operated as KOMA, not taking their title from the medical 'Coma' but rather old Norsk for "Coming home". The core of the band is centred on trio vocalist Jan Jämte, guitarist Johannes Persson plus Fredrik Kihlberg on guitar and piano, this unit, having ties to external acts CULT OF LUNA, THE PERISHERS, SCARED, FALLING DOWN, PLASTIC PRIDE, REFUSED and the DEPORTEES, working with a "rolling collective" of additional musicians.

Still as KOMA, a debut, self-financed 2004 album, entitled 'Tsunami' and produced by Magnus Lindberg at Tonteknik Studios, rapidly sold out of its first 1000 pressing on the Blackstarfoundation label then promptly shifted a further 1000 units. These sessions would be crafted by Jämte, Persson, guitarist / keyboard player Ola Klüft, bassist Jonas Eriksson and drummer Thomas Hedlund.

Roadrunner Records issued second album, 'The Second Wave' in April 2006, debuting at number 43 on the Swedish charts. KHOMA supported label mates 36 CRAZYFISTS for UK shows in June.
