Biography

High standard Death Metal from Umeå. Founded in 1992, the cassette demo 'Beauty Found In Deep Caverns' was issued under a formative band title of MISHRAK. Previous to this a collective of five musicians had assembled under the banner of BEYOND, this unit comprising singer Henrik Nygren, guitarists André Nylund and Johan Westerlund, bassist Peter Lundberg and drummer Matthias Holmgren. Although the MISHRAK demo was committed to tape the group, unsaisfied with the final result, never distributed it to the public. Holmgren enrolled into NAGLFAR in 1995, cutting tracks for the 'Vittra' album, but then returned to MISHRAK.

Line-up changes saw Johan Westerlund quitting the band to play with OBERON (subsequently AUBERON), as well as the departure of Lundberg. Pulling in substitute guitarist Rickard Magnusson, and re-billed as EMBRACING, the second demo, 'Winterburn', arrived in 1995. Signing to the German based Invasion Records label the group debuted commercially with the 1996 album 'I Bear The Burden Of Time', these sessions seeing Jens Kidman from MESHUGGAH behind the desk. Magnusson then opted out and Mikael Widlöf was incorporated on bass. Second album 'Dreams Left Behind' followed a year later. With the demise of Invasion Records EMBRACING struck out on their own, putting out the EP 'Inside You' in 1998 and the 'Rift' session in 1999.

EMBRACING drummer and band founder Matthias Holmgren would lend lead vocals to SKYFIRE's December 1997 demo 'Within Reach'. Holmgren has also performed on the 1999 DEAD SILENT SLUMBER album 'Entombed In The Midnight Hour'. As a session drummer Holmgren features on the 1999 AZURE album 'Moonlight Legend'. EMBRACING drummer Nicklas Holmgren is an ex-NASHEIM member.

Guitarist Ronnie Björnström, of KNIFE IN CHRIST and PROGRESSIVE ACTS, would join the fold in 2002. EMBRACING issued the demo 'The Dragon Reborn' in 2003, ditching bass player Mikael Widlöf in September, after which rhythm guitarist Tomas Elofsson would be auditioned. Khaosmaster Productions re-issued 'I Bear The Burden Of Time' in 2004, adding no less than seven bonus tracks. Meantime, Thrashcorner Records re-issued 'Dreams Left Behind' hosting brand new tracks recorded with new bassist STAR QUEEN and XENOPAGE man Peter Uvén.

Holmgren would also be active with the TIRED TREE project. Ronnie Björnström contributed guest solo work to Black Metal band AZURE's 'King Of Stars - Bearer Of Dark' opus.
