Biography

Generally regarded as the leading Swedish Progressive Rock outfit. THE FLOWER KINGS feature ex-KAIPA frontman ROINE STOLT and BAD HABIT drummer Jaime Salazar in the line-up. THE FLOWER KINGS' frontman ROINE STOLT issued a solo album, 'The Lonely Heartbeat', way back in 1989. Stolt, alongside erstwhile ENGLAND drummer Jode Leigh and keyboard player Par Lindh of the PAR LINDH PROJECT would form part of THE NEW GROVE PROJECT for the highly regarded 1996 album 'Fool's Journey'.

As THE FLOWER KINGS stature steadily grew outside of Scandinavia Stolt took time out to involve himself in a Progressive Rock 'supergroup' featuring MARILLION bassist Pete Trewavas, DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy and Neal Morse from SPOCK'S BEARD. The resulting union TRANSATLANTIC issued a debut album in 2000. THE FLOWER KINGS 2001 studio album 'The Rainmaker' would be released in a limited edition digi pack format which included an extra CD of bonus material.

Stolt's former act KAIPA was resurrected by Stolt and keyboard player Hans Lundin for a brand new studio album, 'Notes From The Past' issued in March of 2002 on the German Progressive Rock label Inside Out Music. Patrik Lundström of RITUAL contributes lead vocals, Morgan Agren the drums whilst Stolt's colleague from THE FLOWER KINGS Jonas Reingold, contributes bass parts.

Salazar would take time out to donate session drums to the second LAST TRIBE album, 'Witch Dance', released in April of 2002 and later unite with Jonas Reingold for PETE SANDBERG's OPUS ATLANTICA album project. Keyboard player TOMAS BODIN issued his inaugural solo album 'Pinup Guru' in October of 2002, joining him in the studio would be bass player Jonas Reingold with Zoltan Csörsz on the drums. Both Csörsz and Reingold would also figure on the 2003 album from MAJESTIC and TIME REQUIEM keyboard player Richard Andersson, his ambitious Sci-Fi Prog Metal SPACE ODYSSEY outing 'Embrace The Galaxy' using THE FLOWER KINGS drummer with Reingold acting as producer.

THE FLOWER KINGS 2004 album 'Adam & Eve' became the subject of censorship in the USA when its cover art, depicting a topless Eve, was deemed too provocative. A suitably positioned, removable sticker solved the problem.

Salazar joined Power Metal band TIMELESS MIRACLE for their August 2004 album recordings 'Into The Enchanted Chamber'.
