Biography
A short-lived act that manifested itself in 1995. Although boasting an enviable tradition of AT THE GATES and DISSECTION, after a solitary demo, recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, TERROR folded. Joining the AT THE GATES triumvirate of guitarist Anders Björler, bass player Jonas Björler, both also ex-INFESTATION personnel, and drummer Adrian Erlandsson would be the notorious DISSECTION and THE BLACK frontman Jon Nödtveidt. Both AT THE GATES and DISSECTION shared rehearsal space from 1993 onwards when had Nödtveidt relocated his band to Gothenburg from Strömstad.
Nödtveidt also connections with a myriad of Swedish extreme Metal ventures such as SIREN'S YELL, NECROPHOBIC, DE INFERNALI, NIFELHEIM, SATANIZED and OPHTHALAMIA. In early 1998 Nödtveidt was arrested on suspicion of the murder of an Algerian homosexual. Nödtveit would ultimately be imprisoned for the crime.
Post AT THE GATES, the Björler siblings and Erlandson were to be found with a further high profile act THE HAUNTED. Erlandsson later found prominence with CRADLE OF FILTH.
Jon Nödtveidt closed his career in a manner befitting his philosophies, committing suicide in August. DISSECTION band members released a statement claiming "he was more focussed, happier and stronger than ever" and "he chose to end his life by his own hands. As a true Satanist he led his life in the way he wanted and ended it when he felt that he had fulfilled his self-created destiny".
Nödtveidt, 31 years old, was found dead at his apartment in Hässelby, a suburb of Stockholm, on August 16th. Newspapers reported he had surrounded himself by candles and had a copy of Anton La Vey's 'The Satanic Bible'. Nödtveidt had ended his life with a shot to the head. Shortly beforehand he had told friends he was "going to Transylvania".
