Biography

Death Metal band UNANIMATED was created in Stockholm during 1989. The inaugural line-up of the group found guitarists Chris Alverez and Jonas Mellberg teamed with Richard Cabeza on lead vocals and bass and ex-MERCILESS drummer Peter Stjärvind. By the time of their first studio demo tape, June 1991's 'Fire Storm', UNANIMATED had replaced Alverez with Johan Bohlin, whilst Cabeza left for a time to join DISMEMBER. The band drafted in Micke Jansson on lead vocals and MASTICATION's Daniel Lofthagen on bass. In parallel to their tenure with UNANIMATED, Stjärnvind and Cabeza would be actively pursuing Death Metal combo MURDER SQUAD as an alliance with DISMEMBER's Matti Kärki and ENTOMBED's Ulf Cederlund.

Some versions of the first UNANIMATED album, 1994's 'In The Forest Of The Dreaming Dead' released on the No Fashion label, possess a cover of VENOM's 'Buried Alive'. That same year both Stjärnvind and Cabeza, in collaboration with CHARRED REMAINS bassist Björn Gramell activated side venture DAMNATION resulting in the demo 'Divine Darkness'.

For UNANIMATED's second album, 1995's 'Ancient God Of Evil', a record hyped at the time by No Fashion as one that took Death Metal into a new dimension, bass parts were once more handled by Cabeza, although he was still a full time member of DISMEMBER. Subsequently UNANIMATED contributed rendition's of BATHORY's 'Raise The Dead' to the No Fashion 'In Conspiracy With Satan' tribute album and SLAYER's 'Dead Skin Mask' to the 'Slatanic Slaughter' collection.

UNANIMATED split, with Stjärvind joining FACE DOWN and, in 1997, ENTOMBED. Jonas Mellborg enrolled into the ranks of THERION during 1996. Stjärnvind and Cabeza forged BORN OF FIRE in 2001. Cabeza later added to his long list of extreme Metal citations in the Spring of 2002, acting as tour bassist for premier Black Metal act DARK FUNERAL's North American dates whilst the equally industrious Peter Stjärnvind set up yet another new outfit, KRUX.

'In The Light Of Darkness (The Covenant Of Death)' saw release in May 2009 through Regain Records.
