Biography

STORMWIND is the neo-classical Symphonic Rock venture of guitarist Thomas Wolf. As well as having credits with earlier bands such as FIREBIRDS, DEMONS and BLACK VELVET Wolf was also the national Swedish Karate champion in 1993. STORMWIND, based in Stockholm, debuted in April 1995 with an eight song demo. Ex-EUROPE man Ian Haughland and vocalist Anna Norberg guest on the 1998 'Stargate' album. The same year Wolf would put in appearances on tribute albums to both YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and COZY POWELL.

The band's third album 'Heaven Can Wait' sees guitarist Thomas Wolf joined by CANDLEMASS, TALK OF THE TOWN and BRAZEN ABBOTT vocalist Thomas Vikström, TREASURE LAND keyboard player Kaspar Dahlberg, bassist Andreas Olsson (from EUROPE cover band SEVENTH SIGN) and WITHOUT GRIEF drummer Patrik Johansson. The latter would join YNGWIE MALMSTEEN's band for South American dates in September 2001.

The STORMWIND duo of bass guitarist Andreas Olsson and keyboard player Per Hallman would unite with NARNIA members vocalist Christian Liljegren and drummer Andreas Johansson to forge the WISDOM CALL project band for a 2001 eponymous album released by Massacre Records. Thomas Wolf would put in a showing on the 2001 JASON BECKER tribute with a rendition of DAVID LEE ROTH's 'A Little Ain't Enough'. This track would re-surface as a bonus cut on Japanese versions of STORMWIND's 'Reflections' album.

In mid 2002 Andreas Olsson joined NARNIA for their album 'The Great Fall'. Upfront of the band's sixth album 'Rising Symphony' keyboard player Kaspar Dahlqvist opted out in April of 2003 in order to prioritise his other act DIONYSUS. Joachim Broden took over the role. Olsson would also form up a studio band, headed by TEARS OF ANGER drummer Daniel Fores and including guitarist BENNY JANSSON, PLATITUDE keyboard player Andreas Lindahl and MIND'S EYE singer Andreas Novak, to cut a version of 'Wild Frontier' for the GARY MOORE tribute album 'Give Us Moore'.

Thomas Vikström joined THERION in May 2009.
