Biography

SOLID GROUND was formed in Stockholm during 1974 with members coming from other band projects, with drummer Anders Berge and frontman Gösta Hjelmqvist from Progressive outfit 4-EVER. The band was built up by drawing in bassist Peter Eklund then guitarist Björn Uhr. The quartet signed to Hazze Ȫstlund's Scam Records for the 1975 7" single 'Tell Me'. In January 1976, over just one day's session in the studio, SOLID GROUND recorded the album Made In Rock'. Despite this progress, national military service obligations put an end to the band.

SOLID GROUND regrouped in 1991, then again in 1996. Another reformation took place in June 2004. In September 2005 Kristian Andrén, of TAD MOROSE, WUTHERING HEIGHTS, STREET TALK, MEMENTO MORI and FIFTH REASON, was added to the line-up.

The group played the 'Muskelrock' festival on 13th June 2009 in Tyrolen, outside Växjö, sharing the stage with SPICE AND THE RJ BAND, AXEWITCH, ABRAMIS BRAMA, CAULDRON, WOLF, BACKDRAFT, BULLET, THOR, THE DEVIL'S BLOOD and HELVETETS PORT.
