Biography

Straight Edge Hardcore band. First album, simply billed 'Refused', recorded at Hortlax Hardcore studios by Pelle Gunne and closing with a cover version of AC/DC's 'Back In Black', was released in 1992 on cassette only on the group's own Umeå Hardcore label. The band at this juncture comprised singer Dennis Lyxzén, guitarist Pär Hansson, bassist Jonas Lidgren with David Sandström on drums. With Magnus Björklund now on bass and Henrik Jansson on second guitar, that same year another cassette album, 'Operation Headfirst', was also delivered. REFUSED had their 1994 album 'This Just Might Be... The Truth' produced by Tomas Skogsberg at Sunlight studios. The band toured Europe alongside Americans 108 the same year. Members of SHELTER added backing vocals to the 'Pump The Brakes' single.

The collection 'The Shape Of Punk To Come' saw issue through Burning Heart in February 1998 and reached rank 30 in the national album charts. This set saw a lavish US release by Epitaph as a digitally remastered and remixed DVD-audio version with 5,1 surround sound in 2004. REFUSED would fold in late 1998 with vocalist Dennis Lyxzén founding THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY
