Biography

Stockholm's KAAMOS delivered a purely refined strain of Death Metal. The band came into being in mid 1998, emerging from the aftermath of a prior act A MIND CONFUSED, which included KAAMOS guitarists Konstantin Papavassilou and Nicklas Eriksson, the latter also operational with Thrashers SERPENT OBSCENE.

KAAMOS issued a promotional recording and in parallel a limited edition split 7" single in league with DRAUTHUS in February of the following year. By November Thörngren had relinquished his position to Karl Envall. KAAMOS drummer Thomas Åberg was replaced by Chris Piss (actually Cristofer Barkensjö of REPUGNANT) in September 2000, the second demo session 'Curse Of Aeons' being recorded shortly after.

In late 2001 KAAMOS entered the recording studio once more, laying down their eponymous debut album for the Candlelight label. Barkensjö also bashes the skins for GENERAL SURGERY. Cristofer Barkensjö joined up with veteran Death / Doom outfit GRAVE in February 2003.

The band would be back in the studio during April 2004, cutting a new album entitled 'Lucifer Rising'. May dates in Finland saw KAAMOS on a package billing alongside WATAIN, ANXIOUS DEATH and SLUGATHOR. Drummer Chris Barkensjö joined BLACKSHINE in November 2005. Meantime, Imperium Productions re-issued both 'Kaamos' and 'Lucifer Rising' on limited edition, gatefold vinyl format. The following February Barkensjö enrolled himself into the ranks of FACE DOWN.

KAAMOS announced they were to perform their "last gig ever" at the 'Party.San Open Air' festival in August 2006 in Bad Berka, Germany.
