IT'S ALIVE

Members

Biography

A Stockholm Funk Rock band formed in 1985 that appeared to critical acclaim during the Funk Rock boom of the early 90s, IT'S ALIVE were formed by ex-members of Eskiltuna Hard Rock outfit LAZY, Per Aldeheim and Kim Björkgren on guitars and keyboard player John Rosth. The latter had also been a member of LINEOUT.

IT'S ALIVE had the added benefit of strong AOR influences and, following the initial pressing of 1'000 CD's, the band's debut album was given away as a free cover cassette in Britain by 'Metal Forces' magazine. The group signed to the BMG affiliated Cheron label for the second 1993 album 'Earthquake Visions' and released three singles in conjunction with the record, including 'I'm Your Man' which featured the bonus cut of a cover of KISS' 'Parasite'. The track, along with a cover of WILD CHERRY's 'Play That Funky Music', was added to the British version of 'Earthquake Visions' issued by Music For Nations.

IT'S ALIVE toured Europe as support to KINGDOM COME in 1994 and upon completion of the dates drummer Anders Gustavsson quit to be replaced by former SORCEROR and MANIC DEPRESSION man Rickard Evensand. Frontman Martin White (real name Martin Sandberg) left in late 1995 to eventually be replaced by Anders Jansson.

White went on to become a successful recording engineer and hit songwriter, going under the alias of Max Martin, his credits include ACE OF BASE, BRITNEY SPEARS and DR. ALBAN. He has also produced and written for the BACKSTREET BOYS and it's interesting to note that one of the group's biggest hits, 'Everybody (Backstreet's Back)' sounds remarkably like classic IT'S ALIVE. Martin's credits only increased in stature as the years passed, his name on the composer credits for the likes of BRITNEY SPEARS 'Hit Me Baby One More Time', PINK, CELINE DION, 5IVE, BRYAN ADAMS, DEF LEPPARD's 'Unbelievable' in 2002 and 'American Idol' winner KELLY CLARKSON's biggest hit 'Since U Been Gone' and follow up 'Behind These Hazel Eyes'.

Evensand joined TALISMAN then SOUTHPAW. He would also figure in Death Metal acts EBONY TEARS and DOG FACED GODS and in June of 2003 was announced as new drummer for the swiftly rising SOILWORK. Before the year was out he had joined US outfit CHIMAIRA. In early 2007 it was revealed Evansand was also involved with a high profile side act, DEAD BY APRIL, featuring M.A.N guitar player Martin Meyerman, DRAGONLAND guitarist Olof Mörck, bassist Staffan Persson of WHEN WE FALL plus the PAINFIELD, DEATHDESTRUCTION and NIGHTRAGE credited singer Jimmie Strimell.
