Stockholm's DIABOLICAL MASQUERADE is the solo project of KATATONIA vocalist / guitarist Blackheim (a.k.a. Anders Nyström). As well as DIABOLICAL MASQUERADE, Blackheim also fronts BEWITCHED, a duo project with ANCIENT WISDOM's Vargher. EDGE OF SANITY's industrious DAN SWANÖ produced the debut 1996 effort 'Ravendusk In My Heart' as well as providing drums and keyboards.

Vinyl versions of the 1998 album 'Nightwork', limited to just 500 copies, would include an exclusive extra track 'Cryztaline Fiendz'. During 2001 DIABOLICAL MASQUERADE took their ambition to new heights with the grandiose 61 track double CD 'Death's Design'. Despite having made a huge impression on the underground Metal scene in September of 2004 came the official announcement "Blakkheim has decided to put his solo project, DIABOLICAL MASQUERADE, to rest."
