Biography

Stockholm's CRASHDÏET, founded in 2000, scored a major coup for retro Hard Rock when their album 'Rest In Sleaze', released on major label Universal Records, crashed straight into the national Swedish charts at number 12. Drummer Eric Gjerdrum (a.k.a. Eric Young) had previously performed in both the guitar and bass role with PANDEMONIC.

The band's fast rising status was dealt a huge blow when CRASHDÏET frontman Dave Lepard (a.k.a. David Hellman) was found dead Friday morning, January 20th. Unconfirmed reports indicated that he hanged himself. In a statement, guitarist Martin Sweet, bassist Peter London and drummer Eric Young stated "CRASHDÏET will definitely not continue as a band. CRASHDÏET consisted of four people and now one has left us."

CRASHDÏET, requesting submissions from potential new frontmen, announced their decision to carry on in April. Without confirming his identity, That August Peter London acted as producer for STARLET SUICIDE's 'Makin' All The Noize' EP. CRASHDÏET revealed in late December 2006 they had located a new singer.

In Stockholm on January 21st 2007 CRUCIFIED BARBARA, ZAN CLAN, STARLET SUICIDE and PP7 GAFTZEB were among the bands that took part in a tribute concert to Dave Lepard. Profits were donated to a Dave Lepard fund to benefit young, up-and-coming musicians. At the same juncture the group announced H. Olliver Twisted of the Finnish Hard Rock act RECKLESS LOVE as their new singer. However, Twisted exited in July 2008.

CRASHDIET recruited Simme of the Stockholm act JAILBAIT as its new lead singer in June 2009, soon afterwards publishing a new demo track with their new frontman online called 'Caught In Despair'.

A new single, the title track from the 'Generation Wild' album, premiered on 29th January 2010. The group performed its debut album, 'Rest in Sleaze', in its entirety at the 'Rest In Sleaze' festival, taking place on 6th February at Fryshuset in Stockholm.Gain Records issued the 'Generation Wild' album on 14th April.
