Biography

Stockholm based riff hungry yet adventurous Metal band, the young Swedish act, billed as 'Goth n' Roll', started life as HETSHEADS issuing the 1995 Repulse album 'We Hail The Possessed'. The band would opt to veer away from Death Metal and rebilled themselves as BLACKSHINE, scoring a deal with the German G.U.N. label and toured in Germany prior to their debut album, 'Our Pain Is Your Pleasure' appearing in the stores. BLACKSHINE would open for U.D.O. in Europe and BRUCE DICKINSON in Scandinavia.

Switching to the SPV label BLACKSHINE parted ways with drummer Anders Freimanis, enrolling erstwhile FACE DOWN and GODBLENDER man Hakan Eriksson in his stead for the January 2001 'Soulless And Proud' album. The band put in a short run of dates supporting ENTOMBED in Sweden during November. Meantime BLACKSHINE singer Anders Strokirk would lend his vocal abilities as session guest on NECROPHOBIC's 'Bloodhymns' record.

BLACKSHINE would be allocated the support slot for the IN FLAMES tour of Germany in October 2002 but later lost this spot to SOILWORK. More than adequate compensation was delivered when BLACKSHINE were confirmed as opening act to the European jaunt of LACUNA COIL and SENTENCED. In September 2004 the band, having completed work on a new album 'Lifeblood' with new man Stipen of MERCILESS, DIA PSALMA/STREBERS and TRANSPORT LEAGUE repute on drums, confirmed they had parted ways with SPV/Steamhammer Records and had inked a new deal with Escapi New Media Entertainment. Stipen joined HARMS WAY in mid 2005. Line-up changes in November saw drummer Stefan Carlsson replaced by KAAMOS and REPUGNANT man Chris Barkensjö (a.k.a. 'Chris Piss').

The following February Barkensjö enrolled himself into the ranks of FACE DOWN. BLACKSHINE signed to German label Dockyard 1 in July. That same year BLACKSHINE personnel were also involved with the Team Hamarby IF supporting "Klack Metal" band BAJEN DEATH CULT.
