Biography

An 80's Heavy Metal outfit, whose initials stood for 'Above The Clouds', released the 1984 'Cut In Ice' album through major label Vertigo Records. Stockholm based A.T.C., fronted by singer H. 'Spider' Söder, are most noted for being a port of call for guitarist TOMMY DENANDER, who joined A.T.C. aged just 13. Denander went on in later years to a solo career as an artist in his own right with the 'Skeleton' and 'Less Is More' albums as well as a side career as a studio engineer. In the latter role Denander has racked up credits with EARTHQUAKE, MORPHEUS and UNANIMATED before generating a slew of AOR and Melodic Rock outings such as SPEEDY GONZALES, RAINMAKER, RADIOACTIVE, PRISONER, AOR and DEACON STREET.

A.T.C. also importantly provided the starting block for another high profile guitarist, CANDLEMASS man Mats 'Mappe' Björkman. A.T.C., upon losing Björkman, evolved into DOWNTOWN and then the intriguingly titled CHEESE, who issued one single, 'Won't Come Easy', in 1988. Tommy Denander contributed session guitar on OVERDRIVE and LOCOMOTIVE BREATH guitarist Janne Stark's November 2006 MOUNTAIN OF POWER tribute collection.
