Hailing from Söderköping, ALLEGIANCE, founded in 1989, delivered old trad Thrash on their debut demo, 'Sick World' recorded at Jade Music that September. The band, drafting frontman Magnus 'Devo' Andersson in 1990, had got decidedly more brutal by second attempt the aptly named 'Eternal Hate'. The band shifted direction undergoing a radical line-up shuffle to emerge as an out and out Black Metal merchants on their third tape 'Odin Äge Er Alle'. A fourth stab at the demo scene with 1994's 'Hövfdingadrapa' pursued more Viking Metal leanings. Pär Thornell would be introduced on vocals and guitar with Mikael Almgren as new bassist in 1995. The 1998 ALLEGIANCE album 'Vrede' would see production duties handled by Peter Tägtgren of HYPOCRISY.

Roger 'Bogge' Svensson (a.k.a. B. War) and drummer Fredrik 'Froding' Andersson of ALLEGIANCE also had an interest in MARDUK and both featured on the 1998 MOMENT MANIACS album 'Two Fuckin' Pieces?'. Fredrik Andersson also cites credits with TRIUMPHATOR. Ex-ALLEGIANCE member Magnus 'Devo' Andersson would also go on to CARDINAL SIN, OVERFLASH, PAIN and SARGATANAS REIGN.

Andersson started up a fresh project band in 2003, LAID TO REST being a Death / Thrash Metal project featuring KAPUT! and ORCHARDS OF ODENWRATH guitarist Zack Z. During May of 2004 Andersson had rejoined MARDUK as bass player.
