Biography

SKY HIGH is based around the ex-SOFFGRUPPEN guitarist Clas Yngström. The band's first single, recorded with Yngström, bassist Hasse Olasson and drummer Ulf Åhman, features versions of two JIMI HENDRIX covers. SKY HIGH's first 1980 album, sung in Swedish, utilised a rhythm section of Åhman and bassist Börje Olevald. Åhman left to join BITE and for the 'Still Rockin' album his position was taken by Kim Gabrielsson.

In September 1981, SKY HIGH went back to the studio, and recorded their second album in Gothenbourg, their first in English language. The album 'Still Rockin' was produced by Lou Stonebridge and completed at Nova Suite Studios in London with John "Irish" Earl adding tenor sxophone and Dick Hanson, of THE CLIMAX BLUES BAND.

1985's 'Freezin' Hot' saw Yngström using a new set of musicians in bassist Arne Blomqvist and drummer Mats Östensson. Yet again it was all change for the next album 1987's 'Humaniser'. SKY HIGH now comprised of Yngström, vocalists Louise Hoffsten and Markus Alden, keyboard player Olle Nyberg and ex JAMMER and SIX FEET UNDER drummer Marcus Kallström.

By the late 80's, Yngström was making a name for himself internationally and the 1989 album 'Have Guitar Will Travel' reflects this. Session musicians included JOURNEY's Ross Valory on bass and THE TUBES drummer Prairie Prince.

The 'Safe Sex' live album saw the earlier incarnation of Yngström, Åhman and Blomqvist reunite. SKY HIGH's 1995 album, 'Fuzz Face', predictably sees a new set of faces in bassist Ulf Ivarsson and drummer Christer Björklund.

Yngström contributes a cover of FLEETWOOD MAC guitarist Peter Green's 'Supernatural' to the 1995 tribute album 'Rattlesnake Guitar'.
